We hate it when the media over dramatizes situations but in the case of tonight's State of the Union address we agree that this is a critically important moment for President Obama to regain momentum.

The speech alone won't do anything but it could be a spark to start building up some badly missing energy in the President's supporters.  If the President uses the speech to re-energize his administration and his supporters and then follows it up with some quick actions / wins he has the opportunity to turn things around quickly.

We'll be looking for a realistic plan to tackle the budget deficit and perhaps the willingness to scale back some initiatives (global warming) to better focus on getting things done (i.e. Healthcare legislation).

For all of us our success is tied to the President so here's hoping he 'hits a double off the wall' and starts a rally that will bring prosperity to us all.

Well to our disappointment you or loyal minions have voted and much like the people in Mass. you said NO to healthcare reform.  We are puzzled by this with the only explanation being that the insurance companies successfully scared enough of you into believing their b.s. about how the government is taking over your healthcare.

We hope you never get sick, never lose your job, never lose your healthcare coverage because if you do you will be at risk of losing everything you've worked for just because you were unlucky enough to become ill.

The chance of a lifetime to actually do something about healthcare, to enact a modified version of what every other civilized country already has in place has been lost.

We are saddened and disillusioned by this turn of events and are considering our options politically.

Despite still having the largest majority in the Senate since Watergate President Obama yesterday seemed to be throwing in the towel on comprehensive healthcare reform.  After a YEAR of effort we find it unbelievable that the Democrats are so quickly running for the exits.  I guess we shouldn't be surprised, for politicians it is all about 'getting elected, or re-elected' and that is what has President Obama and his party running scared.

The mistake he is making is that the Democrats are already pinned with being 'pro-healthcare' so failure to deliver will simply piss off their base supporters and boost the energy level of those who would never have voted for them in the first place.

The vote in Mass. was NOT about healthcare reform.  It was lost by a candidate who took it for granted that she would be elected as though it was her birthright.  Add to that the fact the Republican was a good looking guy and you get an upset.  The people in Mass already have universal healthcare so for them the national issue was a non-issue

The President is on the brink right now.  If he truly does back down from healthcare reform we see very little hope for the rest of his agenda.  That would lead to 3 years of 'do nothing' in Washington and then an election that the President might well lose.

Mr. President this is th

How tragically ironic that the Senate seat that could kill healthcare legislation was formerly held by a man who devoted his entire politcal career to seeing comprehensive healthcare legislation passed in  America.

We cannot begin to describe the dismay we feel this morning.  This 'once in a lifetime' opportunity to FINALLY do something appears to have slipped from our grasps.  The thought that a small minority 41 freakin people vs 59 can actually stall this legislation that would PROTECT Americans from bankruptcy due to illness we find repulsive.

We urge the President to pull out all the stops to get the legislation passed.  It is time to take off the gloves and get as down and dirty as the Republicans have been.  This is simply too important of an opportunity to let pass.  Mr. President, you can do it, don't worry about the polls, or what the TV networks will say.  Do what is right for the American people - you know what has to be done - let's make it happen before it is too late.

If there is any 'good' to come out of the tragedy in Haiti it is the united front that the U.S. is presenting to the rest of the world.  Heck over the past few days we've seen Tweets from Newt Gingrich & Karl Rove as well as emails from President Obama all urging Americans to support the relief efforts.  This kind of bi-party effort is what we need to see more of in America.  United we can achieve anything, divided we simply weaken ourselves.

Give what you can to the Haiti relief efforts - we're showing the world that we are truly the greatness nation on Earth a

There really is no defense of Senator Harry Reid's comments about President Obama.  They were insensitive and demeaning to African Americans plain and simple.  However, it should be noted that he apologized to the President and the President accepted his apology.  So why then are Republicans so 'outraged' and demanding that Senator Reid step down?  Have they truly changed and are now seeking a Red, White and Blue unity as opposed to their old strategy of dividing America into Red & Blue states?

We seriously doubt it.  Instead this is political gamesmanship 101.  What the Republicans are hoping for with this 'Hail Mary' tactic is to unseat Senator Reid, replace him with a Republican and thereby deny President Obama his pure super majority of 60 votes in the Senate.

Naturally the President is way too smart for them and won't fall into this trap.  Instead he has chosen to take the high road and for that we congratulate him.

Surprise surprise but the Cleveland Browns have just made two more terrible mistakes.  First, hiring Mike Holmgren as 'Lord of the Ball' when picking personnel was clearly the area where Holmgren failed in Seattle.  He's a good football coach but a lousy talent evaluator.

Then, the choose to keep Eric 'Mangenius' primarily because of his season ending four game win streak.  What is missed in this decision is the fact they played 3 lousy teams and a Steeler team that was clearly in a funk.  They beat absolutely NOBODY the entire year and only won 5 games via the gimmicks around Josh Cribbs who is now pissed of about his contract.

Looks like many more years of frustration in Cleveland due to another series of bad mistakes in hiring by the owner.

What a bummer that Colt McCoy got hurt so early in the NCAA National Championship game.  Once he went out all the drama around this game went out the window and it was just a matter of letting the clock run out on Texas's season and proclaim Alabama the National Champs.

This game had all the makings of a classic and ended up being yet another blow out. It also made of seriously damaged college football in that future stars seem less and less likely to 'stick around' for another year after seeing what happened to Colt last night and Oklahoma's QB earlier in the year.

So much has been written and reported on Gilbert Arenas that we struggle to find something new to say.  Still, the reports this morning that he mockingly did a hand puppet gunslinger act before last nights game has to be the last straw with NBA commissioner Donald Stern.

This guy has been making a joke of the NBA and more precisely his employer the Washington Wizzards for a long time.  Acting like a jerk yet happily cashing his checks Arenas has shown zero respect for his game / profession.  We'd advocate a suspension sufficient in length to effectively end his career in the NBA.

The Wizzards should be off the hook for his salary and the league should be free of this sort of character.

On the eve of the final Sunday in the NFL we're making our prediction that the cards will not fall the Steelers way tomorrow and they will miss the playoffs.  While many Steeler fans will complain about how 'unfair' it is that teams rested their starters the blame lies directly with the Steelers themselves.  All they had to do was win one game against either Oakland, KC, or Cleveland and they would have been in the drivers seat.  Instead they inexplicitedly lost to all 3 and now face the prospect of staying home for this years playoffs.

We've been lobbying for the replacement of the offensive coordinator since mid-season and we hope the last two games haven't been enough to 'save' his job.  His offense has been un-imaginative and his failure to 'coach up' Dennis Dixon during the first Baltimore game  we find unexcuseable.

The Steelers will miss the playoffs for a reason - bad coaching on offense and the mistakes of a young head coach.  The young head coach will stay but the offensive coordinator should not.
